Description

Soft and indulgent chocolate sugar cookies, perfect for cozy gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups (228g) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup (85g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (224g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups (310g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sugar (additional for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream the butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Create balls of dough with 1 1/2 tablespoon portions, rolling them in your hands and then in sugar.
  8. Place the balls on the baking sheet and press down lightly.
  9. Bake for 7-8 minutes, keeping an eye to avoid overbaking.
  10. Remove from the oven and cool on the sheets for 4-5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Cookie dough can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for 3 months. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
