Ingredients

- 1 3/4 cups (228g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (85g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup (224g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups (310g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup sugar (additional for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.
- Cream the butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Create balls of dough with 1 1/2 tablespoon portions, rolling them in your hands and then in sugar.
- Place the balls on the baking sheet and press down lightly.
- Bake for 7-8 minutes, keeping an eye to avoid overbaking.
- Remove from the oven and cool on the sheets for 4-5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Cookie dough can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for 3 months. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
