Soft and tender sugar cookies with a crisp edge, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, and mix well.
  5. Blend in the dry ingredients until the dough comes together.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass and sprinkle with sugar.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden, then let cool on wire racks.

Notes

Dough can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
