Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ cups sugar
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1¾ cups ripe bananas, mashed (about 3–4 bananas)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- ½ cup butter (for frosting)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 3 Tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 15×10″ pan.
- In a large bowl, beat together the sugar, sour cream, softened butter, and eggs until creamy and smooth.
- Gently mix in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Blend until just incorporated, being careful not to overmix. If using walnuts, fold them in.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- For the frosting, brown the butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until nutty in aroma.
- Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
- Spread the warm frosting over the freshly baked brownies. Allow to cool, then slice and enjoy!
