- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of Italian bread
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with the garlic powder until creamy.
- Spread the garlic butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place the bread slices, buttered side up, on a baking sheet.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice of bread and top with mozzarella cheese.
- Broil in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with parsley if desired and serve immediately.
