Description

A delightful cake combining zesty orange and creamy frosting, perfect for gatherings and celebrating joyful moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • Fresh orange slices for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract.
  5. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  7. Evenly divide the batter between the prepared pans, smoothing the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and orange extract until stiff peaks form.
  11. Spread frosting between the cake layers and on top once cooled.
  12. Decorate with fresh orange slices.
  13. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

You can bake the cakes a day in advance. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
