A healthy twist on classic burgers with tender cabbage leaves enveloping a savory filling of ground beef or turkey.
Ingredients

- 1 small head Cabbage (cut into thick slices)
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for brushing)
- 1 pound Ground Beef or Turkey (or ground chicken or plant-based options)
- 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 large Egg (optional, for binding)
- 1 cup Cheese (for sprinkling on top)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice the cabbage into thick slices, about 1-1.5 inches thick.
- Brush each cabbage slice lightly with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Combine in a large bowl the ground beef or turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and remaining salt and pepper. If using, add the egg.
- Mix until well incorporated, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Form patties from the meat mixture and place them on top of the cabbage slices, pressing them gently.
- Sprinkle cheese on top of each patty.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until cooked through and the cabbage is tender.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
These burgers can be customized with different proteins and toppings. Make them ahead for a quick dinner!
