Description

A cozy and nutritious weeknight dinner featuring savory sausage, tender cabbage, and vibrant bell peppers, all cooked in one skillet.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb sausage (Italian or smoked)
  • 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced (mixed colors)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the sausage into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Chop the cabbage into thin strips and set aside.
  3. Dice the bell peppers and onion into bite-sized pieces.
  4. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add sesame oil and let it heat until shimmering.
  5. Cook the sliced sausage until browned, about 5 minutes.
  6. Add the diced onions and minced garlic, sauté for 2 minutes.
  7. Incorporate the cabbage and bell peppers, stir-fry until tender yet crisp.
  8. Pour in the soy sauce and red pepper flakes, mix thoroughly, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.

Notes

This dish can be customized with additional veggies or a different protein. Leftovers can be stored for up to three days.
