Description

A simple yet flavorful appetizer featuring toasted baguette slices topped with a vibrant tomato and basil mixture.


Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette
  • 2 cups ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch pieces and place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Brush each slice with olive oil and sprinkle with minced garlic.
  4. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. Combine the diced tomatoes, basil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  6. Remove the toasts from the oven, and generously slather each slice with the tomato mixture.
  7. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Serve immediately while the toasts are still warm.

Notes

Make the tomato mixture a few hours ahead for convenience. Experiment with toppings for different flavors.
