Description

A comforting dish of warm, golden Buttermilk Fried Chicken with a crispy coating and juicy interior, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 4 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Ranch dressing for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine buttermilk with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add chicken drumsticks, cover, and refrigerate for at least 120 minutes or overnight.
  2. Mix flour with paprika, salt, and pepper in another bowl until well combined.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C) for perfect frying.
  4. Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting the excess drip off, then dredge it in the flour mixture, coating evenly.
  5. Fry the chicken in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 12-15 minutes.
  6. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil and serve with ranch dressing for dipping.

Notes

For make-ahead, marinate the chicken overnight. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
