Description

A creamy, golden delight with layers of tender potatoes and a luscious garlic-infused cheese sauce, perfect for cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, gouda)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Stir in the flour, cooking for another minute. Gradually whisk in the milk and sour cream, cooking until the mixture thickens.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the shredded cheeses until they melt into a rich and creamy sauce.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in your greased baking dish, sprinkling them with salt and pepper, then pour half of the cheese sauce over them.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and sauce, finishing with the cheese sauce on top.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let the dish cool slightly before serving, garnishing with fresh parsley if desired.
