Description

A hearty and comforting Bolognese sauce, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup vegetable broth (for non-alcohol substitute)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese, for serving
  • Cooked pasta, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, carrots, and celery; sauté until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  6. Bring to a simmer and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Serve over cooked pasta and top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Make ahead for better flavor. Can be stored in the fridge for 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
