Description

Delight in this heartwarming Apple Dapple Cake, filled with tender apples and warm spices, perfect for cozy gatherings and autumn celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch pan for an easy release.
  2. Combine the diced apples, flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl, mixing well to coat the apples in that sweet spice mixture.
  3. Whisk together the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk in another bowl until well combined and creamy.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and gently mix until just combined. Remember, we don’t want to overmix— a few lumps are perfectly fine!
  5. Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly, the apples peeking through the thick batter creating sweet promises of flavor.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, revealing a golden, tender texture.
  7. Allow the cake to cool before serving. For an indulgent touch, drizzle with a buttery brown sugar glaze if desired!

Notes

For variation, add nuts, swap apples, or top with ice cream for extra indulgence. Make the batter a day in advance for convenience.
