A rich and creamy homemade hot chocolate, perfect for warming up on a chilly evening.
Ingredients

- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- Whipped cream or marshmallows (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Combine the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan.
- Add a couple of tablespoons of milk and stir until you create a smooth paste.
- Gradually add the remaining milk while stirring to combine.
- Place the saucepan on the stove over medium heat, stirring constantly until hot but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour into cups and top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired.
Notes
For a thicker hot chocolate, try adding a splash of heavy cream or use less milk. You can also prepare the base ahead of time and store it in the fridge for later use.
