Description

A rich and creamy homemade hot chocolate, perfect for warming up on a chilly evening.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream or marshmallows (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. Combine the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan.
  2. Add a couple of tablespoons of milk and stir until you create a smooth paste.
  3. Gradually add the remaining milk while stirring to combine.
  4. Place the saucepan on the stove over medium heat, stirring constantly until hot but not boiling.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour into cups and top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired.

Notes

For a thicker hot chocolate, try adding a splash of heavy cream or use less milk. You can also prepare the base ahead of time and store it in the fridge for later use.
