Description

A delightful and comforting chicken teriyaki dish, perfect for busy weeknights filled with sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ lb chicken thighs or chicken breasts
  • 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 Tablespoon toasted white sesame seeds
  • â…“ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • â…“ cup mirin
  • â…“ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic or ginger (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by prepping your chicken. Flatten the chicken thighs or breasts to about ¾ inch thick.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, and sugar until dissolved.
  3. Pour half of the marinade over the chicken and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Cook your chicken by grilling for 6-7 minutes per side, pan-frying for 7-8 minutes per side, or baking at 400°F for about 20-25 minutes.
  5. Once cooked, let it rest, slice it, and drizzle with the reserved marinade.
  6. Top with toasted sesame seeds and serve over rice or with veggies.

Notes

Marinate the chicken overnight for deeper flavor. Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days.
