- ¾ lb chicken thighs or chicken breasts
- 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 Tablespoon toasted white sesame seeds
- â…“ cup low sodium soy sauce
- â…“ cup mirin
- â…“ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic or ginger (optional)
Instructions
- Start by prepping your chicken. Flatten the chicken thighs or breasts to about ¾ inch thick.
- In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, and sugar until dissolved.
- Pour half of the marinade over the chicken and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Cook your chicken by grilling for 6-7 minutes per side, pan-frying for 7-8 minutes per side, or baking at 400°F for about 20-25 minutes.
- Once cooked, let it rest, slice it, and drizzle with the reserved marinade.
- Top with toasted sesame seeds and serve over rice or with veggies.
Notes
Marinate the chicken overnight for deeper flavor. Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days.
