Ingredients

  • 2 cups chicken or beef broth
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
  3. Gradually add the broth while continuously whisking to avoid lumps.
  4. Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder if using.
  5. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5-10 minutes.

Notes
