Description

A warm, creamy goat cheese log wrapped in sweet and spicy bacon, perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pack of thick-cut turkey bacon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 baguette
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 or 8-ounce log of goat cheese
  • Maple syrup (or honey, or hot honey)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and place an oven rack in the center.
  2. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper and place a baking rack on top.
  3. Combine the brown sugar, black pepper, water, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl until smooth.
  4. Lay turkey bacon slices on the baking sheet in a single layer and cover with the brown sugar mixture.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes, then flip the bacon and bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy.
  6. Cool the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Increase the oven’s temperature to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  8. Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch slices and lay them on a foil-lined cookie sheet.
  9. Brush the tops of the bread with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  10. Bake the crostini for 7-10 minutes until crisp and golden.
  11. Place the goat cheese log on a serving platter and break the cooled bacon into pieces.
  12. Press the bacon pieces into the goat cheese log for presentation.

Notes

Make ahead: Prepare the bacon and crostini a day in advance. Ingredient swaps: Use cream cheese instead of goat cheese if desired.
