- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
- Mix together the buttermilk, melted butter, egg, food coloring, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Roll the dough into a large rectangle, spread with melted butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut it into individual rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until smooth.
- Top the slightly cooled rolls with the cream cheese frosting generously.
