Description

Ingredients

  • Italian meats (e.g., salami, ham, capicola)
  • Provolone cheese
  • Fresh lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Sliced red onion
  • Banana peppers
  • Olive oil
  • Red wine vinegar
  • Italian seasoning
  • Hero/submarine bread

Instructions

  1. Slice the hero bread lengthwise and hollow out some of the inside to create a pocket for filling.
  2. Layer the Italian meats evenly on the bottom half of the bread.
  3. Add slices of provolone cheese on top of the meats.
  4. Combine chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced red onion, and banana peppers in a large bowl.
  5. Drizzle olive oil and red wine vinegar over the salad mixture, then add Italian seasoning.
  6. Spoon the salad mixture onto the meats and cheese in the sandwich.
  7. Close the sandwich and press down gently to meld the flavors.
  8. Slice into portions and serve.
